Our team
The complexity of the tasks involved in our work demand carefully selected interdisciplinary teams. Core teams are kept in the offices in Switzerland and Peru. The project execution is carried out in South America under the conduction of the local team. Additional experts needed for special tasks can be hired anytime.

Conrado Surber, President

Born 1946, founded INTERANDES and also Andestudio, its counterpart in Peru, in 1979. With vast experience in consulting (1971-1974 in Motor Columbus Engineering, 1977-1979 in Elektrowatt Engineering, both swiss firms) he was also initiator and conductor of many development projects in Peru since 1983. In the last 5 years he also fulfilled consulting contracts in Ecuador and Bolivia. His duties demand him to spend more than half of his effective time in Peru.

Klever Flores, Deputy Director

Mr. Flores was born and grew up in Huanuco, Peru. He studied Psychology at the University of Basel in Switzerland. In the seventies he headed the Program for Rural Development in the peruvian forest region of Huallaga Central in behalf of Medico International Switzerland. During this period of time he lived in the region and also conducted his own cacao and citrus farm. In 1984 he was engaged for INTERANDES. His main area of work is the drug problem, from the substitution of the coca crops to the prevention of drug consumption and abuse. He has also studied natural medicine and presently lives in Switzerland.

Luis Obregon, Peru Representative and Education Projects

As lawyer and educator, with a long trajectory working with the UN, Luis Obregon has specialised in education projects. He conducts presently one of INTERANDES main projects: BERUM, a long-distance education system for rural teachers in the peruvian andean regions and for the promotion of small enterprises.

Juan Basurco, Director Andestudio

Mr. Basurco was born 1944 and obtained his degree in agronomy 1970 in the Amazonian University in Iquitos, Peru. He worked many years for the Ministry of Agriculture of Peru in fodder production and cattle nutrition, and was also head of INIPA, the Institute for Promotion and Investigation in Agriculture. Since 1983 he is head of Andestudio, dedicated to rural development in the peruvian forest region, with a strong agroforestry component.

Jose Huere, Local Coordinator

After finishing his studies 1991 in the National Agricultural University in Lima, Peru (UNALM) and obtaining his degree as forest engineer he made a specialization in Spain. Environmental problems and education have always been his major areas of interest. Since 1996 he is in the INTERANDES team as local coordinator for the office in Peru.

Pawlo Flores, Rural Development

Mr. Flores studied agricultural and civil engineering in Peru and Switzerland. He also worked in the Institute for Structural Engineering (IBK) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). During his studies he always kept contact with the offices of INTERANDES and today he works with the management in the preparation of rural development projects.

Martin Amsler, Legal Advisor

The legal counselment is provided in Switzerland by Mr. Amsler. He studied law in the University of Bern and offers to INTERANDES his services as an independent professional.
